The 45th annual Truckee Professional Rodeo at McIver Arena begins on Aug. 23 with Kids’ Day at the Rodeo. Families can enjoy rodeo-themed activities and enjoy a barbecue lunch, all for free.
On Aug. 24 and 25, rodeo performances will be featured, including bull riding, mutton busting and chariot racing. Kids’ boot races will be offered on both days, as well as performances by Truckee Junior Horsemen Drill Team.
For a boot-scootin’ good time, immediately following the rodeo on Aug. 24, there will be a western dance with music from a local band. Rodeo bars and local food vendors will stay open.
Saturday is Patriots’ Day; wear your red, white and blue. Sunday is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day to show support breast cancer awareness.
Libations and food will be available for purchase. Bags may be searched at entrance gates. Tickets and other purchases are cash only. An ATM will be at the arena.
Parking next to the arena is $10. Free shuttle buses on Aug. 24 will depart from Aviation and Soaring Ways every 10 minutes. Tickets are $15 per adults and $10 ages 6 to 12 in advance; $5 more at the gate. Ages 5 and younger enter for free. | truckeerodeo.org
