Tales & Trails Festival at Sugar Pine

Courtesy Sierra State Parks Foundation

California State Parks and Sierra State Parks Foundation present the third annual Tales & Trails Festival at Sugar Pine Point State Park on July 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free family event will celebrate the natural and cultural history of the area.

Enjoy games, arts and crafts, hands-on science and nature walks. Meet local agencies and learn about forest health, lake science, safe recreation and wildlife — kids can meet Kenny the Crawfish and Ed Z’Bear. Explore Lake Tahoe’s significance to native peoples through Washoe traditional arts. Nosh on snacks and ice cream while listening to Truckee musician Richard Blair. Tour historic Pine Lodge Mansion or Phipps’ Cabin for a glimpse into the lives of Tahoe’s early settlers. Enter the Crawfish Derby and remove as many of these invasive critters from the lake as you can for a chance to win a prize.

Parking is $10 with free shuttle service to/from the campground and day-use area. | sierrastateparks.org
