Slow Food Lake Tahoe has partnered with Keep Truckee Green for a pilot program to collect community compost for the summer of 2019.

Community members can pick up a free countertop kitchen compost bin from the Truckee Community Farmers Market compost booth while supplies last on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to collect veggie scraps. Accepted items for compost are vegetable scraps, fruit scraps, tea remains, coffee grounds, flowers, leaves and eggshells.

Compost will be collected at three initial drop-off locations: the Truckee Community Farmers Market on Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon at TriCounties Bank Plaza until Sept. 29; the Truckee Demonstration Garden at the Truckee River Regional Park anytime until Oct. 1; and at Truckee Town Hall’s rear entrance anytime. | slowfoodlaketahoe.org
