By providing low-cost and free spay/neuter services to qualified applicants for their dogs and cats, the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is making 2019 a Happy Neuter Year.
The Humane Society, Town of Truckee Animal Services and several veterinarians are offering these options to limited-income, full-time residents of Truckee, Eastern El Dorado County, Eastern Nevada County, Eastern Placer County, Incline Village, Sierra County or South Lake Tahoe from Glenbrook to Meyers. The surgeries will take place at the Humane Society’s public animal shelter or at participating veterinary hospitals.
Spayed or neutered dogs and cats make better companions, are less likely to roam, have reduced risk of certain illnesses and save money — pet pregnancy, birthing and raising litters is expensive. Also, spaying and neutering animals reduces the numbers of unwanted cats and dogs.
