Truckee Community Christmas revving up

The nonprofit Truckee Community Christmas is busy identifying people in the community who would most benefit from the generosity of others. Each year the organization collects coats, toys and food for low-income families, teenage moms and their babies and homebound seniors.

Starting on Nov. 24 until Dec. 12, donation bins will be available 50 locations throughout Truckee to drop off items to be wrapped and delivered to their recipients.

Coats | Warm, clean, gently used winter coats or new for people of all ages are accepted at Church of the Mountains and at Tahoe Forest Church.

Food | Non-perishable food items and dried pantry staples are accepted at Safeway, Save Mart, La Galleria, Coldwell Banker, Truckee Elementary, Glenshire Elementary and Alder Creek Middle School.

Toys | New, unwrapped toy donations are accepted at 20 locations around town list online.

Donations gathered after this holiday drive will be put toward next year’s gifts. In addition to goods and services, volunteers are needed to sort and pack donated food and gifts at the SELS school gym on Donner Pass Road on Dec. 13 and 14.

Tax-deductible contributions may also be mailed to Truckee Community Christmas, P.O. Box 2955, Truckee, CA 96160. | (530) 587-2757, truckeecommunitychristmas.com
