Snowstorm dumps 10 to 27 inches on Tahoe ski resorts

A storm system that moved into the region on Nov. 27 has already brought up to 27 inches of new snow to some Tahoe Sierra ski areas, with more snow expected as snow continues throughout Thursday, Nov. 29, followed by another storm moving in Friday evening.

Conditions also continue to look favorable for an active pattern to continue into mid-December, with active winter weather in the Sierra from Dec. 6 to 12, according to the National Weather Service.

The most recent storm comes as Sierra-at-Tahoe, Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge open for the 2018-19 season on Nov. 30. Soda Springs will also reopen on Nov. 30, with Tahoe Donner Cross Country also expected to reopen.

More snow Friday
The storm moving in on Friday evening through Saturday will have lower snow levels, higher snow ratios to the Sierra and widespread snow,

Additional snow amounts of up to 12 to 18 inches of powdery snow are possible in the High Sierra/pass level, with 6 to 12 inches in the more populated areas around Lake Tahoe and in Plumas, Lassen and Mono counties.
