The Wild and Scenic Film Festival combines award-winning environmental and adventure films with the energy of local activism. Featured films will include exciting outdoor adventures, environmental battles and inspirational stories of people making a difference.

Experience the adrenaline of kayaking the wildest rivers. Climb the highest peaks. And trek across the globe with adventure films from around the world. Explore the issues with leading environmental activists and professionals, filmmakers and celebrities including energy, food systems, biodiversity, climate change, protection and restoration of wild lands and wild waters, and much more.

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is organized and produced by The South Yuba River Citizens League. Since 1983, the League protects and restores the rivers of the South Yuba watershed from source to sea. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival puts the League’s work into the broader environmental and social context.

In 1983, a small group banded together to oppose the construction of two dams on the South Yuba River. Over 25 years and thousands of supporters later, SYRCL (pronounced “circle”) stands stronger than ever.

The League has defeated the two dam projects. Now, 39 miles of the South Yuba have become permanently protected through state Wild and Scenic designation.
