Storms brings up to 14” to Tahoe resorts

Tahoe ski resorts set to open

A weekend storm system brought some welcome powder to many Tahoe Sierra ski resorts, as many Tahoe resorts are counting down to the 2017-18 season opening.

Sugar Bowl reported the most snowfall with 14” of new snow, while Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows received 12 inches of new snow. Boreal on Donner Summit reported 7” of new snow, with 3 to 4” reported at Mt. Rose.

Weather forecasts call for cold temperatures to remain, allowing many local resorts to make snow supplementing Mother Nature’s work. Mt. Rose will reopen on Nov. 7 (it was open on Oct. 27 and 28 previously). Boreal will open for the season on Nov. 8.
