Gray’s Crossing

The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing was recently certified as only the second Audubon International Golf Signature Sanctuary in California. This is the highest level of achievement for all of Audubon International’s environmental programs.

The first hole is a par 4 measuring 444 yards from the black tees. It is a good opening hole that is relatively wide open with few hazards. Long hitters may be able to get around the corner, but most players will be hitting a medium-iron on the approach shot to the green. The majority of the greens on the course can be fast depending on the day and relatively flat, with putts that read true.

Toughest Hole
The final hole on the front nine is a long par 4 measuring 474 yards that has a straight and narrow fairway. Club selection is critical on your second shot since you want enough club to make it on the green, which slopes from back to front, but too much and you’re in trouble.

Signature Hole
The par 5 15th hole measures 561 yards making it the shortest par 5 on the course, but also the most picturesque. You should favor the right side of the fairway off the tee. Club selection is crucial on your third shot if to a well-protected and shallow green.

The course has a natural grass driving range with Titleist range balls. It also offers several short game practice areas to provide allow for ample practice on all parts of your game before or after your round.

The multiple indoor/outdoor buildings offer luxuries before or after a day on the links, sliding glass doors open to panoramic vistas of the expansive serenity surrounding this area. The clubhouse was designed by local architect Greg Faulkner and is comprised of four smaller buildings that fuse perfectly with the landscape, as well as incorporating green building techniques. It also has a golf shop that offers an extensive array of merchandise.

The dining terrace has a great and affordable restaurant, P.J.’s, which is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner offering classic club food with a creative twist. Be sure to check out its many happy hour specials from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
